How to Apply For Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) in Ghana

The Student Loan Trust Fund is a financial institution that helps tertiary students to pursue higher education by offering loans with lower interest rate. How to get a loan from SLTF?

  1. You must be a Ghanaian below the age of 45 years
  2. You must have been offered admission to read an accredited program in any tertiary in Ghana.
  3. You must be pursuing tertiary programme such as a diploma or 1st degree.
  4. Applicant must have a valid Ghana card number (can be acquired at designated GRA offices for free)
  5. You must have a student ID card or admission letter
  6. You must have an active phone number
  7. You must have a valid email address
  8. You must have an E-zwich card (can be obtain at any bank)

How to create a Student Loan Trust Fund Account

To create an account, kindly:

  1. Visit the SLTF login website via https://application.sltf.gov.gh/ui/Login
  2. Click on ‘Create An Account’
  3. Read through the legal notice notice on click on ‘Agree’
  4. Enter the required information and proceed to click on Next
  5. On user account information page, tick the box “I agree to the terms of service” and click on create account
  6. You’ll receive an activation code on either your phone or email address. Input the activation code and click on Activate Account button.

Note: if you do not receive your activation code within 24 hours, kindly contact your student loan office for assistance. Have it in mind that every activation code you receive from SLTF expires after 48 hours. Also, to revive your activation code, make sure you enter your correct phone number and your email address should be in small letters.

How to activate your SLTF account

If you are not able to activate your account;

  1. Visit the login page on the homepage
  2. Click on activate account below the sign in form.
  3. Enter your Ghana card number/SSNIT number and click on send code to request for your activation code.
  4. You’ll receive the code via SMS, enter it into the verification code input field and click on Verify

How to reset your Student Loan Trust Fund password

If you have forgotten your SLTF student loan password, this is what you need to do;

  1. Visit to SLTF login page via https://application.sltf.gov.gh/ui/Login
  2. Click on Forgot Password
  3. Enter your Ghana card number/SSNIT number
  4. Click on NEXT to request for your activation code. It will be sent through SMS
  5. Enter the code in the verification code input filed
  6. Click on Verify
  7. Enter your New Password and click on submit

How to apply for SLTF student loan

To order for Student Loan Trust Fund;

  1. Visit the student loan trust fund website via http://www.sltf.gov.gh/ and click on “Apply For Loan”
  2. Complete the online application forms by providing all necessary details
  3. Submit the forms you filled
  4. Print two copies of the online application forms and submit it to nearest student loan office with other relevant documents.
  5. Visit any SSNIT branch office to have your fingerprints taken together with that of your guarantor.
  6. Attach photocopies of the following documents: student ID/admission letter, SSNIT number and E-zwich (both sides).
  7. You must submit two original copies of your completed forms and copies of supporting documents to your respective SLTF office on campus.
  8. You will be contacted via email when your application is due.

How long does it take to get a student loan in Ghana?

Applicants who apply for the Student Loan Trust Fund should expect their loans within two weeks after submission of completed application forms.

How much can I get from SLTF in Ghana?

Student who apply for the Student Loan Trust Fund can receive amounts ranging from GH¢1,500 to GH¢3,000. The specific amount depends on the financial needs of the student, which is determined through a means-testing assessment by the SLTF before disbursement.

What is the interest rate on Student Loan Trust Fund?

The interest rate on the student loan trust fund is subject to a maximum rate of 12%. If the Treasury bill (T-bill) rate exceeds 12%, the SLTF will still charge a maximum of 12% interest. It’s advisable for applicants to repay their loans sooner than the given repayment period to reduce interest charges.
